Editing External Data

The External Data may be edited.

  1. From the Import-Export Utility, select the External Data External Data button button from the ribbon.
  1. The External Data window appears.

  1. Select the down arrow in the Import tab or the Export tab to expand the list of your external data.

  1. Select the External Data that you want to change.
  2. The information for it populates the Text File area of the form, to the right.

  1. Edit button: click the Edit Edit button button, found along the bottom of the form to place the form in edit mode.

  1. File Name: this is the network path to the external data file. To change this, click the browse button to reach the Open window. From the Open window, navigate to the network path of the external data file and select it so that it appears in the File name field. Next, click the Open button to close the Open window and place the file path in the File Name field of the External Data window.
  2. Delimiter: to change the delimiter option, select from the Tab or Comma radio button options.
    1. Tab: If the values in the external data file are separated by a tab, select the Tab option.
    2. Comma: If the values in the external data file are separated by a comma, select the Comma option.
  3. Click the Save Save button button to save these changes to the file and to close the External Data form.
    1. If you do not want to save any of the changes to the external data, click the Cancel Cancel button button to discard the changes.
  4. Click the Exit Exit button button to close the External Data form.
